Things worth knowing
- At 160 kcal per 100 g, avocado is roughly three times as calorie-dense as most fruit. A whole medium Hass avocado yields about 200 g of flesh and around 320 kcal.
- Its 6.7 g of fibre per 100 g is unusually high for a fruit, and most of it is insoluble.
- Because fibre is subtracted differently in different systems, some labels show avocado slightly lower in calories than the USDA figure.
- Avocado is a strong source of potassium: 100 g supplies more than the same weight of banana.
